The third stage of the Vuelta a España was won by Quick-Step Floors' Elia Viviani on a day the General Classification remained unchanged in the top positions.

Peter Sagan (Bora-hansgrohe)

It was another hard and hot stage at the Vuelta. Although I'm not at my best yet, today I felt a bit better and took a shot at the sprint. The team did a great work all day and Lukas (Pöstlberger) launched a brave attack in the last kilometres. I was brought by my teammates in the finale and gave my best in the sprint but Viviani was the fastest.

Giacomo Nizzolo (Trek-Segafredo)

I am in shape and I feel I am still improving day by day. It’s a pity that once more I grab a 2nd place in a Grand Tour but my day will come.

Wilco Kelderman (Sunweb)

Today was a tough day. The guys positioned me well and kept me out of danger. The final was pretty hectic but we got through very well.

Nairo Quintana (Movistar)

It was a day without setbacks. The idea was to be in front at the final descent to avoid any danger and then stay behind at the moment of the sprint. That was the most important thing of the day, we didn't want to go for the stage, we only wanted to avoid the falls. The team is backing me up really well."

Alejandro Valverde (Movistar)

I was in a good position, particularly to avoid any falls. I've been feeling well, even though it was a very, very hot day. I can't say that tomorrow will be better if yesterday I've won already, but indeed it suits me well.
