Elia Viviani added another stage win to his palmares by beating the opposition in the sprint of the last stage of the 2018 Vuelta a España.

The Italian of Quick-Step Floors wasn't well placed for the sprint as he lost his lead-out in the finale. Nevertheless, he managed to find the right line and finished ahead of Peter Sagan for yet another win in this race.

"This is the third week of a really hard Vuelta. That makes the difference," he explained. "I lost a lot of power compared to the first week. I lost my lead-out with two kilometers to go, on the round-about. But then I was pretty confident that I could come back from the back so in the last corner I told my guys that I wasn't there, so they wouldn't go full gas.

"If they had stretched out the group I could have been too far back. But from a mistake we always improve. Today, when they saw that I wasn't there they stopped and I came from the back. It was good, really good. We need to be really proud of all the team for this Vuelta. In the mountain stages we also sacrificed everything for Enric (Mas). He was pretty confident, a class rider.

"I think it's one of the most beautiful Vueltas we every did."
