Daryl Impey (Mitchelton-Scott) and Clint Hendricks (Bike Aid) have decided to skip the World Championships with the South African team. They were set to start at the individual time trial and the road race respectively.

Impey stated tiredness and other aspects as the reasons for his withdrawal from the championships. "Representing my country has always been a proud moment," the rider commented to South African site In the Bunch. "I have had a demanding season and there is just not much left to squeeze out.

"I don’t feel like I would do the jersey justice. I either want to go to worlds with big ambitions or not go at all."

The rider also said that he would have to organise everything himself to go to the competition. "Organising everything puts more pressure on myself and I didn’t have the energy to go through all of that again. Hopefully, we can get to a point where we are able to get more organised and athletes are able to only focus on the task at hand."

Hendricks decided to skip the road race due to the lack of support of the country's federation. "I just don’t have the financial backing and it’s a little too expensive to do everything myself," the rider explained.

"I then decided to withdraw from the world champs two or three weeks ago already."
