Quick-Step Floors is ready to face the last monument of the season, Il Lombardia, with a strong squad that includes some of the riders that won the Team Time Trial title at the World Championships.
The Italian race will be 241 kilometres long and the Belgian team will start with includes Kasper Asgreen, Laurens De Plus and Bob Jungels, who took the TTT title at the world championships of Innsbruck. De Plus will also return to the race one year after his horror crash when he fell over the guardrail.
"Il Lombardia delivers once again a tough course, with the race very likely to come to life in the last 70 kilometres, when Madonna del Ghisallo and Muro di Sormano will be tackled in quick succession," said Sports Director Davide Bramati.
"Later, Civiglio and the punchy Olimpino, which comes close to the finish on Lungo Lario Trento e Trieste, should also play an important role, especially if there will still be a sizeable group inside those last 20 kilometres."
Quick-Step Floors will try to improve from the result of the 2017 edition of the race, in which Julian Alaphilippe was second. "We have had quite the Classics campaign this year and we are keen to show one more time the unique Wolfpack spirit and hopefully come out of this race with a nice result to bring down the curtain on our European season."
