Alexey Lutsenko wins queen stage at Tour of Turkey

Astana's Alexey Lutsenko has taken the victory at the Queen Stage of the Tour of Turkey. The Kazakh rider was the strongest at the climbing final of the fourth day of racing.

The fourth stage of the Turkish race was 205.5 kilometres long and featured one climb of the first category, one of the third and one of the second category at the end. The day started with the escape of eight men and included names like Iljo Keisse (Quick-Step Floors), Grega Bole (Bahrain-Merida) and Diego Rubio (Burgos-BH), among others.

As the climbs past, only Rubio and Bole remained in the front and they were caught by the pack just before the last climb of the day. Teams like Euskadi Murias, Delko Marseille and Manzana Postobon tried to set a rhythm that would suit their men and with a bit more than one kilometre to go Sergio Pardilla (Caja Rural-Seguros RGA) tried to go away but was soon reeled back in.

The next rider to try his luck was Diego Ulissi (UAE Team Emirates) and Eduard Prades (Euskadi Murias) stayed at his wheel but some metres later Alexey Lutsenko (Astana) surprised them both and took the victory of the Queen Stage. The Kazakh rider also took the lead of the General classification, at four seconds from Ulissi and six from Prades.
