Bora-hansgrohe's Sam Bennett was the winner of the last stage of the Tour of Turkey after he launched a surprise attack close to the one-kilometre mark.
A bunch sprint was expected as the final of the Turkish race but Bennett had a different plan. With a bit more than one kilometre to go, the Irishman launched a strong attack and none of the other sprinters was able to follow.
"Firstly, I want to thank the Bora-hansgrohe boys for their amazing work today," the rider commented at the end of the stage. "The whole team came together to put me exactly where I needed to be before I attacked. I can't thank them enough."
"With the top-10 on GC sitting so close on time, I knew I needed to just ride when the moment was right and it paid off! Attacks were imminent and the legs felt good so I made sure to get the win for the team and to take home the Sprint Jersey too. I'm so happy that this is how I've finished my 2018 season."
