EF Education First's Rigoberto Uran has announced that he will also start his season at the Tour Colombia. Days ago, Team Sky's Chris Froome also made known his intentions of riding the Colombian race in 2019.
The Tour Colombia, known in 2018 as the Colombia Oro y Paz race, will have at least two high profile riders in its start list. Uran has announced his participation in the 2.1. competition in 2019.
"I will start the year at the Tour Colombia race," said the Colombian at a press conference in his home country. "It is very beautiful to be able to start the season in my country.
"In 2018 let's say that I was present at the Tour de France and I think next year I could also start at that race, though I still haven't decided the entire calendar for the upcoming season because I haven't had the chance to meet with my team to talk about it."
The rider also praised the work that Colombian riders had at the European season in 2018. "This season in Europe was magnificent for the Colombian riders, they are all doing an amazing work," Uran explained. "What Daniel Martinez did was crazy and I was surprised by Alvaro Hodeg because I thought he wasn't going to win more than five stages.
"I had already said that we were facing an important development in Colombian cycling and we are seeing it in the results of my compatriots."
The Tour Colombia will take place between the 12th and the 17th of February in the Colombian department of Antioquia.
