The next edition of the Ruta del Sol, also known as the Vuelta Andalucia, will be held from the 20th to the 24th of February and will have a route that suits several types of riders.

The 65th edition of the Spanish race will start in Sanlucar de Barrameda, Cadiz, and finish in Alhaurin de la Torre, Malaga. The route of the competition will have one real mountain stage, one medium-mountain day, two relatively flat stages and an individual time trial, all with the objective of attracting different profiles of riders.

Since 2017, the Ruta del Sol has been an Hors Categorie race, in a move that recognised its continuing developing and its identity as a traditional race in the calendar. This has also allowed the renewal of the contract with Eurosport to broadcast it, which means that fans in more than 170 countries will be able to watch it.

The 64th edition of the Spanish race was won by Lotto Soudal's Tim Wellens. Team Sky's Wout Poels stepped on the second position of the podium and Movistar's Marc Soler was on the third position.
