Bora-hansgrohe's Emanuel Buchmann will target a top-ten spot at the 2019 Tour de France. The German rider is confident that he has what it takes to be at the top spots of the French grand tour.

At the 2018 season, the rider reached top-ten general classification places in races like the Abu Dhabi Tour, the Tour of the Basque Country, the Tour de Romandie, the Criterium du Dauphine and the Tour de Pologne. "I had a consistent season," he said in an interview with Eurosport
. "The only thing I was not satisfied with was the final result at La Vuelta, the last two weeks were not as I hoped they would be."

The 26-year-old finished the first week of the 2018 Vuelta a España in the fourth position of the General Classification but at the end of the second week he dropped to the eleventh position, his final result was the 12th overall spot. The rider wants to apply what he learned at the Spanish grand tour at the next season's Tour de France.

"The top-ten at the Tour is ambitious, but is still realistic," Buchmann explained, "This is my interest and that's what I want to do. If I ride the Tour in the same way as I did the first week at the Vuelta, then it would be possible under normal circumstances."
