Nairo Quintana (Movistar) will centre his 2019 season once again in the Tour de France. The Colombian rider has a secret weapon that he believes will help him get to the highest step of the podium.

Quintana has stepped on the podium of the Tour de France three times, in 2013, 2015 and 2016 and even though the last two years hasn't been his best performances in the race, he has now a new motivation to win it.

The victory of the 2014 Giro d'Italia happened just after his daughter Mariana was born and he thinks his newborn Tomas will bring him the same luck in a grand tour.

"I know that physically I can do it and emotionally too," said the rider to Colombian broadcaster Caracol. "I hope that it is true that the boy will bring me beautiful things.

"When the girl was born, effectively in 2014 I won the Giro. Well, I am curious to see what this baby is bringing me."

Quintana is in his home country before flying to Argentina, where he will start his season at the Vuelta a San Juan. Then he will return to Colombia for the Tour Colombia, in which he finished in the second position in 2018, and soon after he will go to Europe where he will likely start his campaign with Paris-Nice.
