Team Dimension Data wants to improve from the result it took at the 2018 edition of the Tour Down Under by selecting a strong team for the Australian race.

Tom-Jelte Slagter finished in the third position of the overall classification at the 2018 edition of the race and Nic Dlamini took topped the King of the Mountains classification. For the first WorldTour event of the year, the African team wants to improve from those results.

The new addition of the team, Michael Valgren, will be at the fast finishes and Slagter will be once more the card for the GC aspirations of the team. "We have a really good team for Tour Down Under, probably our strongest ever at this race so we are certainly capable of making a good result here," Slagter commented.

"Personally, I’ve been training hard to be good here so I hope it will pay off and we can achieve something similar to last year. We have to say the route is also more difficult than previous years and the temperature is rising so It won't be easy, but we are ready."

Dimension-Data's roster for the 2019 Tour Down Under (15th to 20th of January):

Tom-Jelte Slagter
Michael Valgren
Ryan Gibbons
Ben O'Connor
Lars Bak
Nic Dlamini
Scott Davies
