AG2R La Mondiale's Romain Bardet wants to race Milan-San Remo but his participation will be confirmed after Paris-Nice.
The only time that the Frenchman has started at the Italian race was in 2013 when he finished in the 17th position. Bardet has already shown his liking of one-day races and his top-ten results in Il Lombardia and Liege-Bastogne-Liege show that he can make a difference in them.
But the rider will take the decision after Paris-Nice, which will be held between the 10th and the 17th of March. "It's a choice of Romain to want to add Milan-San Remo to his initial program," said Julien Jurdie, AG2R La Mondiale's sports director to French news agency AFP.
"But there is nothing definitive, everything will depend on how he will feel after the week of Paris-Nice. He is excited about the prospect of riding Milan-San Remo, but he also knows that it shouldn't affect the Volta a Catalunya, which starts two days later. That is another big race for Romain."
Despite that Milan-San Remo is considered a sprinters' classic, riders like Vincenzo Nibali have shown that a strong attack at the right moment can give the victory to climbers and good descenders.
