Movistar's Alejandro Valverde will "almost certainly" take part on the Tour Colombia of 2020. The World Champion will include the South American race in his calendar for next season.

Valverde appeared in a video at the presentation of the upcoming edition of the Colombian race, which is set to start on the 12th of February. "I was planning to be in Colombia, but because of some changes in my calendar, I won't be able to be there," said the Spaniard.

"I am a little ashamed, but I hope and it is almost certain that I will be there in 2020."

The video of the World Champion was shown at the presentation of the 2019 edition of the race in the Colombian capital, Bogotá. There it was confirmed that in 2020 the race will be held in the departments of Boyaca and Cundinamarca, in the centre of the country and where Bogotá is located.

The Tour Colombia will have its second edition from the 12th to the 17th of February and will be held in Antioquia. Six WorldTour teams will start in the race and riders like Nairo Quintana, Chris Froome, Julian Alaphilippe, Rigoberto Uran, Miguel Angel Lopez and Fernando Gaviria will race on Colombian roads.
