Bahrain-Merida's Vincenzo Nibali will focus on the 2019 Giro d'Italia. The rider doesn't rule out doing other grand tours, but for now, has eyes only for the Italian race.
Nibali is at Bahrain-Merida's training camp in Cambrils, Spain, and there has discussed his calendar for 2019. "One step at a time," said the rider to Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport. "The big goal is the Giro d'Italia, I will think about the Tour de France later."
The Italian will include the UAE Tour in his calendar, which will be held from the 24th of February to the third of March. Then he will return to Spain, to the Canary Islands, to do altitude training and after it, he will start at Strade Bianche and Tirreno-Adriatico, before getting ready for the Italian grand tour.
"The course of the Giro d'Italia is beautiful and winning the race for the third time would be really special."
The team is complete at the Spanish resort, with the exception of the riders that are currently competing at the Tour Down Under.
