Deceuninck-Quick-Step's Bob Jungels has taken the victory of the fourth stage of the Tour Colombia. The champion of Luxemburg launched an attack at the last moment and crossed the finish line ahead of Mihkel Räim and Julian Alaphilippe.

The fourth stage of the Colombian race was 144 kilometres long in Medellin. The day started with an escape group that included Astana's Miguel Angel Lopez and Manzana Postobon's Daniel Jaramillo.

Despite the efforts of the escapees, a very motivated peloton caught the front group in the last lap of the city circuit and the stage was supposed to be sentenced for a final sprint. But Deceuninck-Quick-Step's Bob Jungels didn't want to settle with that prospect and attacked with a bit more than one kilometre to go.

Behind them, the peloton accelerated to catch him, but the Luxembourger champion was stronger and crossed the finish line three seconds ahead of Israel Cycling Academy's Mihkel Räim and his teammate Julian Alaphilippe.

With the stage victory, Jungels moved to the top of the general classification at three seconds from Alaphilippe.
