AG2R La Mondiale's Pierre Latour has suffered a fracture in a crash at training for the UAE Tour.

Latour was preparing for the first edition of the UAE Tour when he suffered a crash that left him with a fracture. "He suffered a fracture of his left wrist (scaphoid and lower radius), and will be operated on once he returns to France," said the team's medical director Dr Eric Bouvat. "He will likely be unavailable for at least six weeks."

Latour will be replaced by Aurelien Paret-Peintre and will support Tony Gallopin's victory aspirations in the race.

This wasn't the only crash of the day for AG2R La Mondiale riders as Alexis Vuillermoz, Romain Bardet and Mikaël Cherel hit the deck at the first stage of the Tour Cycliste International du Haut Var, without any serious consequences. "I gained some reference points on my form, even if it is not optimal," said Vuillermoz.

"I was missing a little oomph in the sprint, but I gave it 100%. Unfortunately, Romain and I crashed on the last descent. The road was very wet and slippery."

AG2R La Mondiale's complete roster for the UAE Tour (24th of February to 2nd of March):

Tony Gallopin
Aurelien Paret-Peintre
Benoit Cosnefroy
Quentin Jauregui
Larry Warbasse
Geoffrey Bouchard
Samuel Dumoulin
