Bora-hansgrohe's Sam Bennett has taken the victory at the final sprint of the last stage at the UAE Tour. Jumbo-Visma's Primoz Roglic confirmed the overall win of the race.

The last stage of the inaugural edition of the race was 145 kilometres long in Dubai, through a flat course that was bound to finish in a bunch sprint. Three riders formed the escape of the day: Cosnefroy (AG2R La Mondiale), Gruzdev (Astana) and Will Clarke (Trek-Segafredo).

The front group took a gap of The escapees were caught with 2.9 kilometres to go and Mitchelton-Scott took the lead to set the pace ahead of the final sprint. Alexander Kristoff did a strong performance to try to put his UAE Team Emirates' teammate Fernando Gaviria in position ahead of the final metres.

Gaviria launched his sprint at the same time as Caleb Ewan (Lotto-Soudal) but neither of them could match Sam Bennett's strength at the last moments. Gaviria, Ewan, Kristoff and Deceunick-Quick-Step's Elia Viviani completed the top five of the day.

Jumbo-Visma's Primoz Roglic arrived to the finish line with the peloton and became the first rider ever to win the UAE Tour. Movistar's Alejandro Valverde and Groupama-FDJ's David Gaudu stepped on the second and third positions of the podium, respectively.
