Three riders of Movistar have suffered crashes during the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad but all of them will be riding the Omloop van het Hageland on Sunday.

The 123-kilometre long race started for the riders of Movistar in a good form as they were in the main group, but not too far into the race, the squad was down to four riders. At 68 kilometres from the end, Gloria Rodriguez and Sheyla Gutierrez hit the deck in the same curve.

Both got back to their feet immediately but had suffered hits on their left sides. Despite their lack of serious injuries, they and the direction of the team took the decision of withdrawing from the race to avoid any problems that could take them out of the classic season.

Alicia Gonzalez also crashed but she was able to return to the saddle and finished the race more than 13 minutes behind the winner Chantal Blaak (Boels-Dolmans). French national champion Aude Biannic was the only rider of the Spanish formation to arrive to the finish line with the pack and sprinted to the seventh position.

The same group of riders will tackle the 132-kilometre long Omloop van het Hageland and will be joined by the Colombian Diana Patiño to complete the seven-women roster.
