UCI provisionally suspends Stefan Denifl and Georg Preidler

The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) has announced the provisional suspension of Stefan Denifl and Georg Preidler.

The two riders have confessed the use of blood doping as consequence of the anti-doping operation that has been carried out in Austria and Germany after several cross-country skiers were discovered during the Nordic World Ski Championships.

The day of the confession of Preidler, the UCI released a statement confirming that it was aware of the situation and that it has asked to be handed all the information that involve cyclists. A day after it has taken the decision of provisionally suspend the two Austrian riders.

"The UCI will assist the Austrian National Anti-Doping Organisation (NADA) in the conduct of the disciplinary proceedings against Mr Preidler and Mr Denifl by NADA and will support all involved parties in the ongoing investigations," the organisation commented in a press release.

Denifl broke his contract with CCC Team just before the start of the season and Preidler resigned to Groupama-FDJ before confessing to Austrian media.
