Vincenzo Nibali starts European campaign at Strade Bianche

Vincenzo Nibali will spearhead Bahrain-Merida's line-up for the upcoming Strade Bianche, where he hopes to make amends for last year's unlucky edition.
The Italian, winner of four grand tours, was out of contention in last year's race after puncturing on a stretch of gravel road, and will as such be even more determined to make his mark this year.
Nibali just traveled from the UAE Tour after finishing 35th in what was his first race of the season. The Strade Bianche is his next appointment before starting in Tirreno-Adriatico on March 13.
Sports Director Alberto Volpi is confident in Nibali's possibilities for the Italian race. "The Strade Bianche looks like a Belgian classic and the riders will have to be very concentrated all day long. Vincenzo will be our captain and I'm sure he can have a good race," he said.
