Bigla's Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig finished in the fifth position at Strade Bianche after a race in which she didn't have the best luck.

The peloton faced a 136-kilometre route that included eight gravel sectors. The Danish rider suffered a puncture at around 70 kilometres to go and the team had to work hard to bring her back to the peloton, from which she joined the escapees. In the last 20 kilometres, a strong group took the lead and Uttrup Ludwig was part of it.

Despite the efforts that she made before the last kilometres, she managed to arrive to the end with the group and fight for the first positions. In the end, she crossed the finish line in Siena in the fifth place.

"The teamwork that we showed today was really great," Uttrup Ludwig commented at the end of the race. "My teammates were all ready to support me, particularly when I had a flat tire. Mikayla (Harvey) and Elise (Chabbey) helped me to close the gap back to the field, and during this time, Leah (Thomas) worked to neutralise several attacks in the peloton.

"Today I had some bad luck, but that’s racing and you can’t do much about that. But today we were able to see that our team is strong and that we’re able to work together very well. Our hard work will surely be rewarded this season."
