Arkea-Samsic's Warren Barguil has suffered a double fracture in the second cervical vertebra at a crash in Paris-Nice. The rider was one of the affected in a hectic day in the French race.

The Frenchman crashed just after the descent of the second climb of the day and the hit made him lose consciousness in the spot. The rider had to retire from the race and was taken to the hospital after regaining consciousness.

Further examinations in the hospital revealed a double fracture in the second cervical vertebra. Barguil will be taken to the Bicetre Hospital in Paris where he will be in a specialized unit.
