Boels-Dolmans' Jolien D'Hoore is set to have surgery on her collarbone after crashing at the Drentse Acht van Westerveld. It is uncertain for how long the rider will be out of competition.

The four-time Belgian champion crashed at a descent around 60 kilometres into the Dutch race and felt immediately that something was up in her collarbone. D'Hoore was taken to the hospital straight away, where she underwent tests that confirmed the fracture of her collarbone.

The rider is set to return to Belgium on Friday, where she will undergo surgery on Saturday morning. "Getting surgery tomorrow morning," said D'Hoore through Twitter. "Hard to accept with all the nice races coming up."

The circumstances of the crash were not clear for the rider and she asked Lotta Lepistö on Twitter to clarify them for her, as she crashed at the exact same moment. "I feel like the wind was hitting you and then somehow slid to the ground, your bike flew on me on the other side of the road," answered the rider of Trek-Segafredo.

D'Hoore will miss the Ronde van Drenthe that is set to be next Sunday and will also be unable to defend her title of the Driedaagse Brugge-De Panne, a Belgian WorldTour race that will be on the 28th of March.
