Several sprinters have decided to withdraw from Paris-Nice in the seventh stage. The sixth day of the French race was the last chance for the fast men.

The seventh stage of the 'Race to the Sun' was the moment that many sprinters decided to give up. Jumbo-Visma's Dylan Groenewegen, who won two stages of the race, took the decision before the start of the seventh day of competition, choosing to save himself for the rest of the Spring season that continues for him with the Volta a Catalunya and the 4 Jours de Dunkerque.

Another rider to leave the race mid-stage was the wearer of the points classification jersey, Sam Bennett. The Irishman won two stages of Paris-Nice and will now prepare for Milano-Sanremo, a classic that will be held on the 23rd of March.

Lotto-Soudal's Caleb Ewan, who suffered a crash at the end of the sixth stage of the race, didn't start in the seventh stage. Dimension-Data's Edvald Boasson Hagen also decided to skip the last two days of the race, including the Queen stage.
