CCC-Liv's Marianne Vos has taken the victory of the Trofeo Alfredo Binda. The Dutch rider was the fastest at the final sprint of the Italian WorldTour race.

The third appointment of the UCI Women's WorldTour was 131.1 kilometres long between Taino and Cittiglio. The first kilometres witnessed several attacks, but the speed of the peloton didn't allow anyone to build a considerable gap.

With 75 kilometres to go, Trek-Segafredo's Tayler Wiles attacked and created a gap of around 40 seconds with the pack and was followed by Ale-Cipollini's Diana Peñuela and Mikayla Harvey (Bigla). Around ten kilometres later, the escapees were caught by a very fast peloton that managed to leave several riders struggling behind.

Soon after, Mitchelton-Scott's Grace Brown attacked and took a 30-second lead over the pack. With 41 kilometres to go, Brown was caught by a now reduced peloton of around 40 riders and 15 kilometres later, only 12 remained in front including Marianne Vos, Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio (CCC Liv), Amanda Spratt (Mitchelton-Scott) and Kasia Niewiadoma (Canyon-SRAM).

In the last lap, two groups got back together in front and Parkhotel Valkenburg's Demi Vollering changed the pace to build a gap with the rest. The Dutchwoman entered a time trial mode and soon had an advantage of more than 40 seconds over the reduced pack, in which the riders didn't seem to agree on the best tactic to catch the escapee.

With 10 kilometres to go, Wiles took the lead of the pack to reel back Vollering and soon the role was taken over by Canyon-SRAM's Alena Amialiusik. At 8 kilometres from the end, and as Vollering was caught, Niewiadoma increased the pace in a move that managed to leave part of the front group behind.

Moments later, Cecilie Uttrup Ludwig (Bigla) launched a new attack and was closely followed by the other riders and went on to try another one that left only eight riders in front including Vos, Moolman-Pasio, Spratt and Soraya Paladin (Ale Cipollini). With five kilometres to go, it was Spratt's chance to change the pace but she was reeled back in moments later.

New attacks followed by Ludwig, Niewiadoma and Anastasiia Chursina (BTC City Ljubljana), but they were all successfully repelled by the others. Behind, Floortje Mackaij (Sunweb) took the lead of the chasers to bring Coryn Rivera to the front group. Moolman led the front group in the last kilometre as the chasers got to them.

Vos was the first rider to launch the final sprint and she was strong enough to hold the lead until the end, crossing the finish line ahead of Spratt and Ludwig and with enough time to celebrate beforehand. This is the fourth time the Dutchwoman takes the victory of the race, the last time was in 2012.

Chursina and Cecchini completed the top five of the day.
