Bora-hansgrohe's Jempy Drucker has been involved in a crash at the last kilometre of Dwars door Vlaanderen that left him with a concussion and one fracture.

The German team was finishing a successful edition of the Belgian race in which Lukas Pöstlberger was in front for most of the race and just missed the final podium, as he crossed the line behind winner Mathieu van der Poel, Anthony Turgis and Bob Jungels, and ahead of Tiesj Benoot.

But the day didn't finish in a good way for Bora-hansgrohe as the Luxembourger hit the deck in the last curve of the Belgian race. The fall was hard and other riders stopped to check on him, as well as the medical services, and he couldn't finish the race.

He was conscious and was taken straight away to the hospital were further examinations revealed a concussion and a fracture of his sixth neck vertebra. "The fracture looks stable and we hope no operation is needed, but he will be out for many weeks," said Bora-hansgrohe in a tweet. The rider was set to start in the Scheldeprijs the next 10th of April and in Paris-Roubaix, on the 14th.
