AG2R La Mondiale's Oliver Naesen is uncertain to start at the Tour of Flanders. The Belgian rider is suffering from bronchitis but hopes to recover before the Monument.

Belgian television channel TV Oost has confirmed that Naesen has been feeling sick in the last days and has already started taking antibiotics to treat bronchitis. The Belgian rider told the channel that he started feeling bad just after the champagne podium ceremony at Gent-Wevelgem.

The former Belgian champion started at Dwars door Vlaanderen but he finished in the 19th position. The current season has been good for Naesen as he had already finished in the second place in Milano-Sanremo and in the third of Gent-Wevelgem, and he expects to continue the good streak at the second monument of the season.

The rider had already been hit with bad news in the week as it was confirmed that one of his support men for the next race, Tony Gallopin, had to be sidelined after a crash in the closing stage of the Volta a Catalunya, which left him with a hard hit on his shoulder, after which he has to take some rest days.
