Matteo Trentin will lead Mitchelton-Scott at the Tour of Flanders. The European champion continues his Classics season at the Monument.

The Italian rider has finished in the top ten of the last three classic races: Milano-Sanremo, the E3 BinckBank Classic and Gent-Wevelgem. Trentin wants to take a step up and get the victory at the 270.1-kilometre Ronde van Vlaanderen, that includes 17 climbs and five cobblestone sectors.

"My form is good and I have been able to recover this week from a very demanding Gent Wevelgem," he commented. "Up until now, I have always been there in the previous races. I haven’t managed to get a bit of luck in any of those situations, but I’ve always been there with the best riders.

"To go home with the bag full we just need a bit of luck to find the right group that is allowed a bit of freedom and just have a good day on the bike."

Mitchelton-Scott's roster for the Tour of Flanders (7th of April):

Edoardo Affini
Jack Bauer
Michael Hepburn
Chris Juul-Jensen
Luka Mezgec
Robert Stannard
Matteo Trentin
