Team Sunweb is set to be led by Michael Matthews at the Amstel Gold Race. The Australian aims to keep enjoying his good shape at the Dutch race.

The race will be 265.7 kilometres long between Maastricht and Berg en Terblijt that include three climbs of the Cauberg and a finale on narrow roads that will make it harder to control.

"With our Keep Challenging Center in the region of Limburg, we are super motivated to get a good result close to home turf," said coach Aike Visbeek. "We send a strong squad with a good mix of youth and experience. The race is often really aggressive with a lot of the action starting at the Kruisberg with 40 kilometres to go, so positioning onto that climb will be very important.

"The peloton will likely continue to split on the Eyserbosweg and Keutenberg and from there the race will be all about tactics. We ride in support of Michael who's in great shape with two stage wins and the points jersey in Catalunya and a solid result at his Flanders debut. We'll look to have other riders with him going into the final, to search for a good result after some bad luck here over the past few years."

Team Sunweb's line-up for the Amstel Gold Race (21st of April):

Søren Kragh Andersen
Johannes Fröhlinger
Marc Hirschi
Lennard Kämna
Michael Matthews
Nicholas Roche
Louis Vervaeke
