Jumbo-Visma has unveiled its roster for the 2019 Giro d'Italia. Primoz Roglic is set to lead the Dutch team at the first Grand Tour of the year.

The eight selected riders for the race are doing an altitude training camp in Sierra Nevada, Spain. "We’re all here, the entire Giro team," commented Jumbo-Visma's Head of Performance Mathieu Heijboer. "We find it very important that everyone has the best preparation. We’re really making a plan here."

This will be the second time Roglic starts in the Italian race, he already did it in 2016 when he won the Individual Time Trial of the ninth stage and finished second in the opening time trial. The rider is enjoying a good season as he has taken the overall victories at the UAE Tour and Tirreno-Adriatico.

Last year he already enjoyed success by winning Itzulia-Vuelta al Pais Vasco, the Tour de Romandie, the Tour of Slovenia and the 19th stage of the Tour de France, where he also finished just outside the final podium.

The Slovenian will count on the support and the experience of Robert Gesink and Jos van Emden, who won the last stage of the 2017 Giro d'Italia.

Jumbo-Visma's line-up for the Giro d'Italia (11th of May-2nd of June):

Primoz Roglic
Robert Gesink
Paul Martens
Koen Bouwman
Antwan Tolhoek
Jos van Emden
Tom Leezer
Laurens De Plus
