Lotto Soudal's Caleb Ewan has taken the victory at the last stage of the Tour of Turkey. The Australian was the fastest rider at the final sprint and crossed the line ahead of Fabio Jakobsen and Sam Bennett.

The last day of competition in the Turkish race was 172.4 kilometres long between Sakarya and Istanbul over a route that included a third category climb but that was suitable for a fast finish. Six riders formed the breakaway in the first kilometres and included names like Mauricio Moreira, Lorenzo Fortunato and Thimo Willems.

The front group created a gap of more than five minutes with the peloton and behind them, teams like Deceuninck-Quick-Step and Lotto Soudal set the pace of the pack to force a fast finish. With a bit more than five kilometres to go, the peloton caught the escapees and all the teams with sprinters prepared for the tricky finish of the Blue Mosque.

The first rider to sprint was Bora-hansgrohe's Sam Bennett and soon after Lotto Soudal's Caleb Ewan also launch his sprint and was strong enough to take his second victory of the 2019 edition of the race. Deceuninck-Quick-Step's Fabio Jakobsen, Bennett, UAE-Team Emirates' Simone Consonni and Caja Rural's Jon Aberasturi completed the top five of the day.

Felix Grossschartner (Bora-hansgrohe) arrived to the finish line with the peloton and confirmed the overall victory of the race. UAE-Team Emirates' Valerio Conti and Astana's Merhawi Kudus completed the podium of the Tour of Turkey.
