Adam Yates is set to be the leader of Mitchelton-Scott in La Fleche Wallonne. The rider will start in the race for the third time in his career.

The Briton comes back to the race after starting in it in 2014 and 2016, to try to get his first podium in it. The race will be 195 kilometres long over a course that includes eleven climbs, including three ascents to the Mur of Huy, one of them being in the lead out to the finish.

Mitchelton-Scott has never achieved a victory in the Ardennes classic but Michael Albasini has been on its podium twice: in 2012 when he finished in second place, and in 2015 when he was in the third position.

"I’m in good condition but I’ve never quite mastered the Ardennes races," commented Yates. "The terrain suits me generally and Flèche is a bit harder than usual which should suit me more.

"I am nearing the end of a big block of racing which I am pleased about, with a few wins along the way, so my confidence is quite high but we will have to see how things go on Wednesday."

Mitchelton-Scott's line-up for La Fleche Wallonne (24th of April):

Michael Albasini
Tsgabu Grmay
Damien Howson
Daryl Impey
