The organisation of La Vuelta has announced the wildcards for the 2019 edition of the race. The 18 WorldTour teams will be joined by four ProContinental in the next Spanish grand tour.

The 74th edition of La Vuelta will kick off on the 24th of August from Torrevieja and will finish on the 15th of September in Madrid. The Spanish grand tour will have the participation of the 18 WorldTour teams and four of the ProContinental level, three Spanish formations and one French.

Burgos-BH, Euskadi Basque Country-Murias, Cofidis and Caja Rural-Seguros RGA have been the selected teams to start in the race. The 2018 edition of the race will also mark the ten years of the Red Jersey, that was won in 2018 by Mitchelton-Scott's Simon Yates.

The 74th edition of La Vuelta a España will have six flat stages, four mid-mountain stages-two of which have a climbing finish-, seven mountain stages, one individual time trial and one team time trial and two rest days. This will also be the 50th time that the Spanish grand tour finishes in Madrid.
