Jumbo-Visma's Primoz Roglic has extended his lead in the General Classification of the Giro d'Italia. The rider crossed safely the finish line of the third stage of the race.

Strong winds were predicted for the third day of competition which made the peloton to be very shaky and tense. The pack set a fast pace and only one rider was allowed to escape - Nippo-Vini Fantini's Sho Hatsuyama, but after he was caught, everything stayed together until the end, except some riders that hit the deck before the end of the stage.

Roglic was kept in a safe position by his Jumbo-Visma's teammates and he climbed to the podium at the end of the day to take the Maglia Rosa for one more day. "It was actually an easy day because there was only one guy in the front so all day," said the Slovenian to Italian broadcaster RAI. "There was nothing but it was windy so we had some stress at the end."

"With only one rider in the breakaway, it made it a very long stage. It enabled me to enjoy the Maglia Rosa a bit more. I wasn't really scared of the crosswinds at the end because we are a team from Holland so we know how to deal with the wind."
