Deceuninck-Quick-Step is ready to face the first appointment of the Hammer Series in 2019 in Stavanger. A roster of five men will tackle the competition in Norway.

Hammer Stavanger is a three-day event that will put teams to compete against each other on diverse terrains. The first event will take place over a rolling course with a start in Madlaveien and a finish in Grisabakken, an 8.9-kilometre-long climb circuit that the riders will go through nine and a half times.

The second day, the fast men will have the chance to score points for every team over a slightly downhill course towards the Stavanger city centre. The third day of competition will have a hard team time trial over an undulating terrain in which the start order will be based on the points accumulated over the previous days.

"The first two days will be very important to get into a good position for the Hammer Chase," said sports director Tom Steels. "For the Hammer Climb, we can play our cards with several riders, before going for points with Alvaro (Hodeg) and Davide (Martinelli), twenty-four hours later, in the Sprint.

"The 48.9km time trial on the last day won't be easy, especially as we have to race it with just five riders, but we are confident that we can pull off a nice result at the end of the weekend."

Deceuninck-Quick-Step's roster for Hammer Stavanger (24th to 26th of April):

Remco Evenepoel
Alvaro Jose Hodeg Chagui
Yves Lampaert
Davide Martinelli
Petr Vakoc
