Trek-Segafredo's Matteo Moschetti has had to withdraw from the Giro d'Italia following the last-kilometre crash of the 10th stage of the race.
The peloton was under the flamme rouge when a crash affected the peloton, leaving on the ground riders like Pascal Ackermann, Enrico Battaglin and Matteo Moschetti. The Italian rider of Trek-Segafredo was shown on the floor and unable to sit up due to the pain while his teammates gathered around him.
The rider was taken immediately to undergo medical examinations. "After a series of X-Rays we are happy to say that Matteo has no fractures," said Trek-Segafredo in a tweet. "He had a small dislocation of the left shoulder and has a lot of muscular pain in his legs from the impact. Matteo also has superficial wounds over his body and face.
"Matteo did not lose consciousness after the crash and is cleared of risk of concussion. He will not start Stage 11 tomorrow as his shoulder and legs will take some time to heal."
Later in the evening, the team put a picture of the rider showing some of the injuries but also a big smile.
Still smiling! ??
