Sean De Bie (Roompot-Charles) has been cleared to return to Belgium to continue his recovery next to his family. The rider was hit by a car during training in Italy on the 14th of May.

The 27-year-old was hit by a car that was driving on the wrong side of the road in Brescia, Italy, and he had to be taken to the hospital by helicopter due to the seriousness of his injuries. The rider's injuries include six broken ribs, a crack in the sternum, bruised left lung and spleen, and a broken left shoulder blade, and they were the reason why he had to stay in intensive care for a few days.

"After my crash and all the images that were taken of my body (Echo, RX and MRI), I was taken to intensive care for four days/nights where I was very well taken care of (even an everyday shave and washing of my hair) and a follow up on the situation," wrote De Bie in his Instagram account.

"After these days they took me to the pneumology department because of a small breathing problem. After a few days, my wife arrived with our newborn son to give me some mental strength. In the meantime, the biggest issues are solved, pain is much less and there are no reasons to keep me in the hospital. I now rely on paperwork between the hospital/insurance to get transported to Belgium. Hopefully, that goes quickly enough so I can be with my family soon."
