Lotto Soudal's Caleb Ewan has taken his second victory at the Giro d'Italia in the eleventh stage of the race. The rider crossed the finish line ahead of Arnaud Demare and Pascal Ackermann.

Ackermann was the first rider to launch the final sprint and Ewan stayed at his wheel, to later on launching a move that gave him the victory. "I think he (Ackermann) has proven that he's one of the quickest here and to be honest he was the first sprinter to come past me so I decided to jump in," Ewan commented at the finish line.

"My guys really got me in a good position. I really didn't have to fight for the wheel so much and that just made my run a whole lot easier. He went quite early so I could really just sit there and start my sprint perfectly.

"It didn't go as much uphill as I thought it was going to be. My team did a great job to always keep me in a good position in the last 30 kilometres that's when things became a bit more hectic. I timed the sprint really well. In headwind sprint, you really need to time it perfectly. Pascal went a little bit too early and I just waited and when I felt ready I went.

The rider is happy about the two victories he has taken in the Giro d'Italia so far. "I came here and I really wanted to get one win so with two I exceeded my expectations and I'm so happy with that."
