Anna van der Breggen (Boels-Dolmans) has announced that she will start in the Giro Rosa. The rider has taken the final victory of the race twice and returns after being absent in 2018.

The World champion is in the United States with her teammates Chantal Blaak and Karol Ann Canuel doing altitude training ahead of the next appointments of her season. "We travelled to Park City for that," said the rider in her website. "Here we can discover new ways, enjoy some peace and prepare for the second part of the season. It includes the European championships, the Dutch national championships and the Giro Rosa, among other things.

Van der Breggen just finished the Amgen Tour of California women's race empowered with SRAM, where she took the overall win. "Races in America are different," she explained. "Now also because of the nice weather, which we were not used to anymore, but the roads are a lot wider and with fewer turns.

"The course of the race was also different from when I came two years ago. There were three new parcours in a beautiful area."
