Katusha-Alpecin's Marco Haller has confronted a cycling fan that tried to get one his water bottles in a not-too-subtle way at the end of the stage of the Giro d'Italia. The images show that the rider contains himself to not escalate the situation any farther.
A video recorded by Twitter user Junimba, shows the German rider after the finish line of the 12th stage, riding the bike with the bidon in his mouth. A cycling fan, who was likely trying to get souvenirs from the Corsa Rosa stopping in Pinerolo, tried to simply rip the bottle out of his mouth.
The Katusha-Alpecin rider got off his bike and confronted the man, who at this point was trying to calm him down and de-escalate the situation. Haller refrained from physically hurting the man while someone of the organisation was attempting to hold him off.
All this happened after the first day in the mountains for the peloton, in which the riders had to stand two heavy climbs before the finish line.
