Tao Geoghegan Hart breaks clavicle in Giro d'Italia crash

Team Ineos' Tao Geoghegan Hart has suffered a collarbone fracture as a consequence of the crash he experienced at the 13th stage of the Giro d'Italia.
The Briton was part of the escape group of the 13th day of competition in the Corsa Rosa but at the descent of the first climb of the day, he hit the deck and had to withdraw from the race straight away. The rider had to be taken to undergo examinations to determine the severity of his injuries.
"Tao’s front wheel went from under him and he fell on his right shoulder," said Team Ineos doctor Iñigo Sarriegui. "X-rays have confirmed that he has a fracture of his right clavicle so he will fly home tomorrow and will have an operation next week."
The team has confirmed that the rider will fly back to the United Kingdom on Saturday and will go under the knife in Manchester.
Pavel Sivakov had better luck at the 13th stage of the race as he climbed to the top of the young classification standings. The Russian rider rode most of the day in the favourites' group and crossed the finish line in the ninth position which gave him the White Jersey that he will wear on the next day.
