Jumbo-Visma has taken the victory of the Hammer Climb on the opening event of the Hammer Stavanger. The Dutch team managed to claim enough points to secure the win of the first day.

Two of the ten sprints were won by the formation, while riders were well positioned in all the other climbs to claim points. Mike Teunissen sprinted to victory in the final lap of the event and took the maximum double points, taking also the 22nd win for Jumbo-Visma in the current season so far.

Teunissen, along Jonas Vingegaard, Amund Groendahl Jansen, Pascal Eenkhoorn and Maarten Wynants, worked well together to claim the first victory of the three-day event. "Such a victory is a real team achievement. Everyone was very strong today", Teunissen said. "As a team, we rode very attentively and we were always represented in the breakaway. First with Jonas and then with Pascal and me.

"The race made clear that you don’t have to win every sprint to score a lot of points. We only won two of the ten sprints, but we always scored points with multiple riders. We were very consistent and we were constantly in control. That was crucial for our victory."

Lotto Soudal finished in the second place of the Hammer Climb and Bora-hansgrohe on the third place.
