Giro d'Italia - Richard Carapaz: I think I will see Nibali often in the last week of the race

Richard Carapaz (Movistar) arrived to the finish line of the 15th stage of the Giro d'Italia in the fifth position. The rider extended his lead of the overall classification, where he is 47 seconds ahead of Primoz Roglic.
The Ecuadorian was part of the chasing group in the last part of the 15th stage of the Corsa Rosa and managed to win some seconds on his direct rival Primoz Roglic. The rider goes into the second rest day with an advantage of 47 seconds over the Slovenian rider of Jumbo-Visma and of one minute and 47 seconds over Vincenzo Nibali.
"I felt very well and I could easily make contact with Nibali," said Carapaz about the last kilometres of the stage. "In the end, he did all the descent because he knew it very well and I tried to follow his as much as possible and I could get some seconds that I needed.
"I tried to risk as little as possible because I knew the descent was very fast but I did it well."
Carapaz crossed the finish line in the same group with Nibali, who showed in the stage that he also wants to take the Pink Jersey at the end of the race. "I think Nibali is very strong, he's one of the riders that is trying the hardest and I think I will see him often in the last week of the race," the Ecuadorian rider explained.
"I think we both have our eye on the podium and I think it will be a beautiful battle and a nice show for the public."
