AG2R La Mondiale's Silvan Dillier has crashed during a training session in Sierra Nevada, Spain. The former Swiss champion broke his collarbone in the accident.

Dillier has been doing altitude training with the team in the Sierra Nevada since the 18th of May. The rider was in a training ride when he suffered a crash that left him with a "fracture of the outer end of the left clavicle at the level of the acromioclavicular joint that will probably require surgery," said medical director of AG2R La Mondiale Eric Bouvat.

The Swiss rider, who finished in the second position in the 2018 Paris-Roubaix, hasn't had a successful season so far and in the Classics season, the best result he got was the 14th place in Strade Bianche.

Dillier's best results include the time trial title of the Swiss National Championships of 2016 and of the road in 2017. He also won a stage in the Giro d'Italia in 2017 and finished in the second overall place of the Arctic Race of Norway in 2015.

The rider was set to start in the Tour de France and news about his participation will be confirmed when it is known the speed of his recovery after the surgery he will likely undergo on the next days.
