The Criterium du Dauphine has announced a few names that will take part in it. Some of the riders that will be strong contenders in the Tour de France will include the race as part of the preparation for the grand tour.

The 71st edition of the French race will kick off in Aurillac on the ninth of June and will finish in the Swiss town of Champery on the 16th. The race will present a mix of stages suitable for puncheurs, for the fast men and for the climbers in the Alps.

Riders like Julien Alaphilippe (Deceuninck-Quick-Step) and Wout van Aert (Jumbo-Visma) can take advantage of the rolling courses while the sprints will show a battle between riders like Nacer Bouhanni (Cofidis), Andre Greipel (Arkea Samsic), Alvaro Hodeg (Deceuninck-Quick-Step) and Sam Bennet (Bora-hansgrohe).

Once the race arrives to the Alps, names like Jakob Fuglsang (Astana), Romain Bardet (AG2R La Mondiale), Dan Martin (UAE-Team Emirates), Richie Porte (Trek-Segafredo), Thibaut Pinot (Groupama-FDJ) and Nairo Quintana (Movistar) will compete for the glory along three-time winner of the race Chris Froome (Team Ineos).

The Criterium du Dauphine is considered by many riders as the best race to finish the preparations and test the legs for the Tour de France. Four times in the last six years, the winner of the French race has also stood on top of the finish podium of the Tour de France in the Champs Elysees.
