Astana's Miguel Angel Lopez arrived to the finish line on the 20th stage of the Giro d'Italia after having lost time because of an incident during the climb. The rider crossed the finish line one minute and 49 seconds behind the stage's winner, his teammate Pello Bilbao.

The Colombian was seemingly pushed off his bike by a fan in an incident that was not recorded by the race cameras. At the moment the camera came back to the rider, he was hitting a man that was on the ground and after that, he came back to his bike and began to chase the group of the favourites.

"I had the legs and I gave it a go several times today and I'm happy because of the result we got with Pello and happy that he took the victory again," said Lopez at the end of the stage. "I think more security and respect are needed. There was a lot of adrenaline and I'm sorry for everything that happened.

"I am left with a bad taste in my mouth because I knew I had what it takes to win the stage and I would have liked to say good-bye to the Giro with a beautiful victory. I came very motivated to this Giro but the good part is that we're taking the White Jersey, which I also took last year, and I hope to defend it tomorrow and we can go home with it."
