UAE-Team Emirates' Alexander Kristoff has taken the final victory of the Tour of Norway. The rider finished the last stage in the third position and this was enough to confirm the final victory.
The last stage of the Norwegian race took the peloton through a 175.1-kilometre route that also finished in a bunch sprint. Ineos' Kristoffer Halvorsen was the fastest man of the day and he crossed the finish line ahead of Team Sunweb's Cees Bol and Kristoff.
The rider of UAE-Team Emirates had taken the leader's jersey the day before and his third place on the last stage confirmed the final victory of the race. Kristoff's fellow countrymen Halvorsen and Edvald Boasson Hagen (Dimension Data) completed the podium of the Tour of Norway.
"We started with the responsibility and goal of defending the lead in the overall standings: the team was totally focused on controlling the race, and then working very well to support me and to stay in the main group," said Kristoff at the end of the race.
"Though I thought I could win the final sprint, two guys came past me, but third place was enough to allow me to win the Tour of Norway. I am very happy, it has been a long time since I won the overall classification of a race."
