UAE-Team Emirates' Tadej Pogacar has taken the victory at the Slovenian individual time trial and became the national champion of the discipline. The rider beat Matej Mohoric and Jan Tratnik.
The competition took place over a 44-kilometre course in Ljubljana and the 20-year-old completed it in 49 minutes and 34 seconds. Bahrain-Merida's Matej Mohoric and Jan Tratnik finished in the second and third places respectively by stopping the clock 29 and 45 seconds slower than the rider of UAE-Team Emirates.
"I was aware of the high level of the competitors, especially considering the participation of Mohoric and Tratnik, however, I was well trained, I worked hard after the Tour of California," Pogacar explained.
"In the first part of the course I set a regular pace, close to my limit, and in the second half, I pushed as hard as I could. I'm really satisfied with my performance and with this beautiful national title."
So far in 2019 Pogacar has taken the overall victories in the Amgen Tour of California and the Volta ao Algarve. His calendar will continue with the Gran Premio Citta di Lugano and the Tour of Slovenia.
