Wilco Kelderman is set to make his return to racing at the Tour de Suisse. The rider of Team Sunweb has recovered completely from the injuries he undertook at the Volta a Catalunya.

The Dutchman crashed out at the fifth stage of the Spanish race with a neck vertebrae fracture and broken left collarbone -which stopped his ambitions of starting in the Giro d'Italia. Kelderman now has made a complete recovery from the injuries and is ready to face the next part of his calendar.

"Wilco had his neck brace off over a month ago and immediately returned to training outdoors," said Sunweb's physician Camiel Aldershof. "Things have gone really well and he’s been able to get in a really good block of training. Now he’s on altitude camp and things continue to go well, so we can definitely say he is race ready for Tour de Suisse next week."

The rider is pleased with his return to competition. "I look forward to being back in action racing and I’m very happy that I’m already back at this level," he explained. "I’ve worked hard over the last two months to be in the best possible condition towards the upcoming races.

"It wasn’t always an ideal or nice process, but four weeks on the indoor trainer and a good plan from the team and my trainer brought me up to a decent level. Now we are on altitude camp for 2.5 weeks in Tenerife for the next step. After this, I’m looking forward to racing again with the boys."
