Bahrain-Merida's Dylan Teuns has raised his arms at the second stage of the Criterium du Dauphine. The last time the rider had won was in 2017, which is also his most successful victory so far.

The last time the rider won at a WorldTour race was in the Tour de Pologne of 2017, where he took the victory of the third stage and went on to triumph in the overall classification. Only days later, he crossed in the first place the finish lines of the first and fourth stages of the Arctic Race of Norway -a 2.HC. race- and got the final victory.

In the second stage of the 2019 Criterium du Dauphine, the rider was part of a late escape of which only him and Guillaume Martin survived. The duo arrived together to the last kilometre, and Teuns showed to have the better legs to sprint to take the victory and climb to the top of the General Classification.

"I’m super happy with this," said the Belgian rider. "This is something special. My last win was in Poland almost 24 months ago and this one is also a really nice victory."

"In fact our team’s strategy was that Dylan followed the attack of the best riders on the last climb, but the attacks came earlier, so when the breakaway was brought back, he was clever to move on a counterattack and anticipate the last climb with a group of twelve riders," explained sports director Vladimir Miholjevic.

"Then he went clear on the final climb with Martin, that was a good companion for him in the break. They collaborated and the chasers – that included big names as Froome and Quintana – didn’t manage to bridge the gap of 15” to them."
